NOC for Bike Sale

NOC stands for No Objection Certificate. In the context of bike sales, there are two types: Bank/Lender NOC (needed when you have an active loan on the bike) and RTO NOC (needed when the bike is being sold to someone in a different state). Bank NOC: If your RC shows hypothecation (a financier's name as charge holder), you must get a NOC from that financier after clearing the outstanding loan. Without this NOC, RC transfer to the new owner is not possible. RTO NOC: If you registered your bike in Maharashtra but the buyer is from Gujarat, Karnataka, or any other state — you need an RTO NOC from your RTO (Mumbai, Thane, etc.) that allows the vehicle to be transferred to another state's RTO. How to Get Bank NOC for Bike Loan in Mumbai Step 1: Get the exact outstanding amount + foreclosure penalty from your lender's app or branch. Step 2: Pay the foreclosure amount. Get a payment receipt. Step 3: Request NOC in writing (letter or email). Most lenders have a standard NOC application form. Step 4: Wait for NOC issuance. HDFC: 7–14 days. Bajaj Finserv: 7–10 days. Hero FinCorp: 10–14 days. SBI/PSU banks: 14–21 days. Step 5: Collect the physical NOC from the lender's branch (required for RTO submission). Some lenders also provide digitally signed NOCs. Step 6: Submit NOC to your RTO for hypothecation removal from RC. How to Get RTO NOC for Interstate Bike Transfer in Mumbai Step 1: Visit your RTO (based on your RC's registered address) — Tardeo RTO, Andheri RTO, Borivali RTO, Thane RTO, Vashi RTO, etc. Step 2: Submit Form 28 (Application for NOC) along with original RC, valid insurance, valid PUC, and proof of identity. Step 3: RTO fees: ₹100 for NOC (standard two-wheeler). Step 4: Processing time: 7–15 working days for Maharashtra RTOs. Step 5: NOC is valid for 6 months from the issue date. The buyer must register the vehicle in their state's RTO within this validity period. Alternative: Maharashtra RTOs now allow NOC applications via the Parivahan portal online — avoiding multiple RTO visits. How BikeBro Handles NOC for All Transactions BikeBro manages both types of NOC as part of our standard service. You get regular status updates via WhatsApp. Can I sell my bike without getting an NOC if the buyer is in Mumbai? If your bike has no loan (no hypothecation on RC) and the buyer is also in Maharashtra (same state), you don't need any NOC. Simply sign Form 29/30 and the buyer can do RC transfer at the local RTO. What happens if I sell my bike without getting bank NOC? If you sell without clearing the loan and getting bank NOC, the buyer cannot transfer the RC. The vehicle remains registered in your name, and you remain liable for any future issues. The buyer may also be cheated since they paid but don't have clean ownership. My lender closed down / merged. How do I get NOC? If your lender has merged (e.g., Centurion Bank into HDFC), approach the successor bank. If the lender has completely closed, you may need to approach the RTO with proof that the loan was cleared (bank statements, payment receipts) and get a court order or indemnity bond in some cases. BikeBro's team can guide you through this complex scenario.
